Paid work that fits around your own home

Many women want to earn without leaving home for the whole day: a few hours while the children are at school, or an evening job once the house is settled. Household work is one of the few jobs that fits that, because the work is in the next building or the next street, and the hours are fixed by agreement.

This is not work from home. It is paid work in homes near yours. Families on Sevetu post what they need, such as a cook for breakfast and lunch, someone for the dishes and floors, or a didi to pick a child up from school. You apply to the ones that fit your hours and your area.

There is no agent in the middle. You talk to the family, you agree the pay, the hours and the weekly off, and it is written down. Sevetu charges you nothing, now or later.

Your phone number stays private until you decide to share it. Ask what the work is, who lives in the house and what time they want you.

Work, hours, pay, pay date and weekly off. On Sevetu it goes into a digital work agreement both of you accept.

Go in daylight, not alone

Tell someone at home the address. Take your husband, sister or a friend the first time if you can. A good family will understand.

Questions & answers

Frequently asked questions

No, and we would rather say so at the start. This is paid work in other people's homes near yours: cooking, cleaning, looking after a child or keeping an older person company. What you choose is how close, which hours and which kind of work.

Yes. Running a home is the experience families are looking for. If you cook for your own family every day, you already do what a cook does. Write that on your profile in plain words: what you cook, for how many people, and which hours you are free.

Yes. Most part time household work is two or three hours in the morning or the evening, in one or two homes close by. Set the hours you can give on your profile and apply only to jobs that fit them.

No. Sevetu is free for workers and always will be. There is no registration fee, no deposit and no cut from your salary. If anyone asks you for money to get a job on Sevetu, they are not from Sevetu.

No. Families care far more about whether you can do the work, reach them on time and speak a language they speak at home. List every language you speak.

Chat in the app first, where your number stays private. Agree the work, hours and pay before the first day. Go in daylight the first time, tell someone at home the address, and take someone with you if you can. Never give original documents or pay a deposit to anyone.

For the free identity (KYC) check you need your Aadhaar or another government ID. You keep your documents. Nobody should hold your originals.

The family pays you directly, on the date you agree. Sevetu does not handle the money and takes no commission, so what you agree is what you get. The pay, hours and weekly off are written into a digital work agreement.
